Common questions

How do I see a word's match?
Tap the word. It and its counterpart in the translation light up together. Tap empty space to clear it.

How do I open a word's explanation?
Double tap or hold the word. The card explains what it means in this passage, how it is used, and how its match in the other language corresponds.

How do I change languages?
In the library, choose the language you speak and the one you are learning. Any of the 28 languages can be paired with any other.

Does it need the internet?
No. Everything is in the app and works offline.

Is there a subscription?
No. Book Duet is free to download, and six stories are free forever. The others unlock with one-time purchases (Library, and World Classics separately), with no ads and no account. Use Restore Purchases at the end of the library if you change phones.

The story opens across both screens like a book. Fold the phone part-way to hide the translation, and tap the hidden page to peek.

Listening
Listening uses the voices installed on your device. For a more natural voice, download an enhanced voice for that language in your device's Accessibility settings, under Spoken Content.

Privacy

Book Duet has no account and no ads. It sends us a little pseudonymous usage data, tied to a random install ID, never sold and not used for tracking. See the privacy policy.
